Lindani’s sentiments around failure are that the word has a negative connotation but she believes that all challenges and all obstacles in life are just an opportunity to learn. Even if you failed in life, you tried many times, the next time you try you will succeed.
In her business and entrepreneurial journey Dhlamini has experienced a “plenty of challenges from landing the first client, to challenges of collecting my debtors to challenges around retaining people which are their key resource. “We hire highly skilled individuals, highly sort after individuals do we have to compete with the market. So we have to have a proper value proposition for people to join our business”.
Dhlamini says the significant financial implication of their business is people. Adding that “the beauty of having a spaza shop is that you can buy the stock on credit and you can afford to keep it in the shelves for three months and you can put your creditors at bay and say I will pay you when I sell the stock. We can’t afford to do that because people cannot be put on a shelf and say I won’t pay you for the next three months and I will pay you when I get money. Cash is key in our environment, like any business you have your ups and downs and you got your challenges but you’ve got to manage your cash and you’ve got to manage your cash flow in the business”.
