Changing the landscape of e-commerce

Parcelninja has set out to change the landscape of e-commerce. With a go-get approach, Parcelninja offers warehousing and distribution solutions for e-commerce players as one of the first paperless fulfillment warehouses in South Africa. All warehousing processes are executed digitally, using scanners, touch screens and other digital equipment. Explaining Parcelninja’s point of difference, Terence Murphy says: “The website gets the order, we then pick, pack and get it ready for delivery and a courier will pick it up and do the final link, the delivery. We do not actually own vehicles, we outsource that to couriers. We have multiple couriers whose systems integrate with ours to get live pricing.” This means e-commerce traders do not need to set up their own warehouses. Warehouse storage is taken care of by Parcelninja, along with managing the order and distribution. Parcelninja’s service web interface is built for ease of use and perfect for e-commerce businesses doing around one to 40 orders per day. The only thing an e-commerce trader needs is an internet connection to get onto Parcelninja’s website and receive shipments or ship out stock. There are no special requirements. E-commerce traders can source stock from a supplier who sends it to Parcelninja. The stock is then managed within the Parcelninja warehouses through to customer delivery - all through the Parcelninja website. With the latest technology Parcelninja enables e-commerce traders lower costs by applying efficient processes, no matter the size of their business. With large volumes, reduced costing on packaging and storage is on offer.

Customers

The company ensures customer orders are picked and packed the same day with deliveries made the following workday. Although Parcelninja is responsible for the delivery of packages to the clients of their customer, Terence Murphy of Parcelninja says they do not run a courier service and see themselves as a fulfillment centre that works with many courier companies. In the case of Groupon shipments, customers do not even know that Parcelninja is involved. “Ultimately, it’s up to the customer and our client as to how their customer receives the product. We do state Parcelninja on the waybill so that if it does get lost they can come back to us.” Makro, Superbalist. com, the recently shut down Groupon and e-bucks FNB are a few of the retailers and e-commerce customers using Parcelninja. Packaging look-and-feel is up to the e-commerce trader. Groupon for instance wanted their bespoke packaging. “So we do offer that and they will drop off the boxes and we will pack orders into their bespoke boxes, branded packaging and customers see Groupon all over the place.”
