Paula Quinsee is a trained relationship expert that works with companies and individuals providing them with tools and skills to enhance the quality of their personal or organizational relationship. Paula is not only a trained relationship expert but also a TEDx speaker and author of a book titled Embrace Conflict.
Her interest in relationship sparked when she was exposed to relationship therapy in 2006 during a very low time in her personal life.
“I was exposed to Imago Relationship Therapy in my personal capacity in 2006 and was blown away at the impact it had on me and helping me understand who I was, how my upbringing had influenced me and the types of relationships forged with others including my current relationship at the time that was on the rocks. I enquired about being trained in Imago therapy and started my coaching journey in 2009 initially in a part-time capacity before going into it full-time 4 years ago.”
Quinsee says in her years of training and coaching she has come to realize that there is no separating line between home and work “they are very much integrated and it is how we find the balance that enables us to succeed in both. At times we may need to lean on our home environment for support and encouragement and we can apply business principles in our homes such as goal setting, regularly reviewing our performance and quality of our relationship with our partners and children”.
Even though she might seem as if she was born giving relationship advice and tools, Quinsee was once in corporate and through the different experience faced in that environment, she is able to go back to that environment when consulting for a client. “The corporate world provided me with many lessons that I am applying in my own business such as a vision, business plan, goals, structure, networking, collaboration, and professionalism.”
The professionalism becomes evident through the many accolades received and when asked to describe the emotions and feelings of being recognized as a maverick in her industry. She says that “It really is a privilege and honour to be acknowledged for the work I do by my peers and industry. It helps motivate me to keep going and realise my vision of having a positive impact on every person that crosses my path”.
Her work has established Quinsee as a formidable brand and she is very conscious of the delicacy of how easily a brand can be tainted. She says “ I believe my personal brand is a reflection of my professional brand and I try to conduct myself in a manner that would be respectful of both brands and the credibility I strive for both personally and professionally.” Adding that “I always use the “Sunday Times” benchmark by asking myself the question “If what I am doing right now had to appear on the front page of the Sunday Times, would I be ok with that?” If not, then I look to change my actions.”
To ensure that she was building a strong business, she says that one needs all the basics such as good financial management, compliance with all the necessary legislative requirements such as tax certificates, and company registration papers. Adding that having a business plan and regularly assessing where you are at and what needs tweaking to keep growing both as a business owner and as a business.
That is why the biggest investment in her business has been a top-class financial team “my bookkeeper and tax advisor, a business mentor and software systems to automate and streamline processes e.g. Buffer for social media management”
With her good and outstanding brand Quinsee hopes to infiltrate international markets and become a global brand that has a positive impact on every person they interact with. She adds that they are moving into a digital space with online learning, online behavioural profiling for individuals and organisations while also working with international organisations.
