Meet our Top 50 Thriving Female Founder for 2019 Edition

I was born in Soweto, and the youngest child from a family of five children. My mother who was a single parent, was a serial entrepreneur running a multitude of businesses including selling premium brands for children’s clothing, being a wholesaler in the provision of liquified petroleum gas (LPG), owning a supermarket and a dry-cleaning plant to outsourcing construction vehicles. I learnt so many valuable lessons from her and my inclination towards entrepreneurship started from my early childhood.

I am a Business Savvy Serial Entrepreneur, Life and Business Coach as well as a Public Speaker. I am an intrepid visionary and activator that is inspired to authentically connect with people and to transform their lives profoundly through brining out the best in people.

There has been a positive trajectory in my growth as a leader from when I was a trainee Audit and Accounting Clerk after completing my B.Com degree to now as a business woman who established and has been leading a Human Resources Consultancy for the last 14 years. My development exemplifies a hunger to succeed coupled with the determination to work hard to achieve my goals as well as to empower others.

Businesswise, I managed to start my own Human Resources Company with just 3 years of professional experience under my belt. Dalitso Consulting was established in 2005 as a recruitment agency. Between 2014 and 2016, I went back to school to further my formal qualifications as well as to equip myself with the business skills necessary to help grow the company to the next level. During this time I obtained 2 Masters degrees. I attained a Masters of Philosophy (Entrepreneurship) as well as a Master of Business Administration respectively. This further illustrates amply my commitment to self-development and personal intellectual growth.

In January 2017 after completing my studies, I decided to restructure what was previously Dalitso Consulting which provided predominantly recruitment and selection services, into a group of divisions that provide a diversified range of HR services. Currently Dalitso Holdings has the following divisions:

  • Recruitment & Selection (including disability recruitment)
  • Strategic Consulting (strategy development & implementation, OD, change management, cultural integration, monitoring & evaluation)
  • Outsourced HR Services (transactional) - aimed at SMEs and Medium companies on a monthly retainer.
  • Psychological Assessments (including performance management and employee engagement)
  • Training and Development (including coaching and leadership development)
  • Labour Relations (Employee contracts, CCMA, Bargaining councils, disciplinary hearings)
  • Bursaries and Internships Administration
  • Employee Wellness

As well as Enobel Technologies, which is a recruitment app that we are in the process of developing. I have also recently gravitated into the technology space to remain relevant as well as to keep up with the latest developments in the business environment. .

We have since managed to grow the company into a viable and profitable business employing up to 70 permanent staff at its peak. In the process the business has serviced some of the biggest private and public companies in the country with a full range of HR and recruitment services. In the past year alone, Dalitso Holdings revenue increased by more than 100% after diversifying and developing new innovative products & services. We have also expanded our physical presence and opened branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Our team, which comprises a staff compliment of over 95% African Black employees, has specialist consultants, a management team, in-house Industrial Psychologists, administration staff and a research division, the latter housing a comprehensive library of reference material. We recognize that our people lie at the heart of the company’s success. We hire employees who have potential for further growth and who have the entrepreneurial mentality to link their rewards directly to the company’s performance. In short, we hire for attitude and experience, and train for higher competency, growth and retention.

This exponential growth was further accelerated by the establishment and appointment of an active and participative Advisory Board to provide strategic advice to fast track business growth through the provision of expertise to fill in gaps of knowledge, offer guidance, recommendations and business development insights to break into new markets and industries.

I am also in the process of starting a small enterprise development program to use my own experience as an entrepreneur and as well as my formal qualifications to empower and inspire up and coming entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and to develop businesses that are sustainable. I’m currently involved with a number of Township SMEs as a Mentor in partnership with GIBS, JP Morgan and Walmart as part of their Enterprise Development Programs (EDP). As a Mentor, my primary role is to provide guidance and support to my mentees based on their unique developmental needs. This illustrates and showcases my capacity to develop into a top business leader on the continent through my promotion of the advancement of entrepreneurial activity in Africa.

I’m currently involved in a lot of research pertaining to Entrepreneurship to gain insight and skills that will lead to understand how entrepreneurship can improve and stimulate the economy and livelihood of many people especially on the African Continent. I want to work on projects that fundamentally challenge existing assumptions about the field of entrepreneurship whilst keeping abreast with the latest developments. My ultimate goal is to establish a business school that will focus on strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as to become an expert in that field to serve as a catalyst in the advancement of entrepreneurial activity in Africa. Moreover, I have the desire and passion to make a contribution to the development of our continent through effective leadership by unleashing the skills and professional-cum-business experience I have amassed to date.
